4/26 Called:
Winter Park Memorial Hosp. (spoke with a charge nurse of L&D, Nancy)
200 N. Lakemont Avenue Winter Park,
FL 32792 407-646-7000
She said they don't offer cloth because they don't have the time or resources to devote to it. Said it is easier to use disposables, cloth would require a lot more work. Said I could bring by information and she would be glad to include that in the take home bag for new mamas. (which I will do tomorrow)

Called:
Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies
83 West Miller Street ~ Orlando, FL 32806
321.843.9792
Said they don't use anything but disposables. There is a safety issue, because it is where high risk deliveries occur and they have a level 3 NICU, they don't feel the cloth diapers would be very sanitary and safe.

Called:
Florida Hosp. Celebration
400 Celebration Place Celebration, FL 34747
407-764-4000
Lady I spoke with uses cloth on her baby and would like the hospital to start, or at least offer it as an alternative, but they don't because of budget cuts. I told her I would bring in pamphlets.

April 27th:
1. Fl. Hospital Altamonte
601 East Altamonte Drive
Altamonte Springs, FL 32701 407-303-2200

They do not offer an alternative to sposies. Lady did not know much as to what roadblocks were preventing them but sadi the sposie were easier.

2. Florida Hosp. Apopka
201 North Park Avenue
Apopka, FL 32703 407-889-1000

They do not offer cloth diapers. The L&D nurse I spoke with said that it would be too expensive to maintain.

3. Florida Hosp. East Orlando
7727 Lake Underhill
Orlando, FL 32822 407-303-8110

Do not offer cloth diapers. Nurse said that it would be unsafe and "disgusting" to use the same diaper over and over again. She said parents know how to change a disposable diaper, not cloth.

4. Heart 2 Heart Birth Center
1301 South Park Avenue
Sanford FL 32771
407-322-9944
This is a birthing center and the midwife said they would be willing to offer teaching sessions for parents interested in cloth diapers. They do not currently provide any cloth diapers to their patients.

5. The Birth Place
1130 East Plant St.
Winter Garden, Fl. 34787
407-656-6938
They do not currently offer cloth diapers, but hope to one day. They do hand out cloth diapering reading material to their patients. They said that money is an issue and they don't have proper lanudry facillitations to accomodate cloth diapers.

6. Labor of Love Lakeland
1525 Edgewater Beach Dr.
Lakeland, FL 33805
They do not offer cloth, but welcome parents who choose to bring them in. They said that money and time is an issue. The start up costs are too much. Also sanitary reasons keep them from using cloth diapers.

I contacted Mercy Hospital and spoke with Michelle in Labor & Delivery. They do not offer cloth, and she wasn't sure why not. She said that she hasn't heard many people ask for it.

They also do not offer laundry service for cloth diapers (all their linens are sent to one company for cleaning) on the floor, but said patients are welcome to bring their own cloth diapers and wash them at home (send home with a relative, etc...).

They don't currently offer literature on cloth diapers, but would be open to adding it to their "new mom" packets, provided the literature was provided to them and approved (she didn't know who would approve it, but she did say that printing costs would be an issue).

I contacted Unity Hospital and spoke with Mary in Postpartum. They do not offer cloth diapers, and also do not have any literature for new moms about cloth on-site.

She said that cloth questions just haven't come up in her experience, but they would be willing to work with patients who want to bring their own. Patients would have to send laundry home with a family member, since they don't offer patient laundry services on-site.

They would be willing to look over cloth literature to add to their new mom packets - the contact for that is Melissa, the Patient Care Superviser. Her # is 763 236 3439.

I contacted North Memorial Labor & Delivery - Angie was very helpful. They do not offer cloth diapers in the hospital, but moms can bring their own to use if they'd like. They don't have on-site laundry available for patients to use, so you'd have to bring dipes home to wash them.

They DO (yay!) include information about cloth diapering in their Newborn Care Information that they send home with new moms. It discusses cloth diapers as an option, but does not include specific business referrals, like cloth services in the Twin Cities.

I called Children's Hospital and asked if they offer cloth diapers to the babies that they treat. I spoke to the charge nurse and she said that they do not anymore; however when she started there 15 years ago they did. But they were phased out because they found disposables to be easier and they were dealing with laundry issues due to leaking. They also provide information in their new parents bags. They send a brand new Tampa General hosp. diaper home with every baby J

They do not offer cloth and will not even entertain the idea because of safety health issues. They said that since they receive most of Jacksonville’s premature/very sick babies, and the level 3 NICU, they must be very meticulous in their laundering and that cloth diapers just would not make the cut.

They do not have a cloth diaper option for their patients. If a patient chooses to they can bring their own and clean them themselves, but they do not have the money for starting up a cloth diaper option.

They do not have a cloth diaper option. The cleanliness if used diapers is a main concern of theirs. The nurse said disposables are easier to get rid of, so they are cleaner.

They do not have an option of cloth for mothers. The startup costs would be too great.

They only provide disposables. They do not have the money need to start up a cloth option. A patient can bring their own cloth diapers in.
